Forget US Civics - Let’s Teach Marxism

Mar 28, 2007 in It's All Right

Update: John J. Miller has a great piece on this on NRO: See Banning Legos.

Liberals often deny that there is a left bias in the media.  They also deny that schools are indoctrinating students with leftist ideology.  But there is no more denying the latter, now we have communists openly standing proud and touting their indoctrination.

At Hilltop Center in Seattle, they have started teaching kids the merits of collectivism and the evils of private ownership.  When the students spent a great deal of effort building a legotown, they began to feel a sense of ownership of the buildings they constructed with their hard work and creativity.  This is a bad thing according to the teachers at Hilltop.  The legotown was accidentally destroyed and the teachers used the occasion to preach the virtues of Soviet era communism:

We saw the decimation of Lego-town as an opportunity to launch a critical evaluation of Legotown and the inequities of private ownership and hierarchical authority on which it was founded. Our intention was to promote a contrasting set of values: collectivity, collaboration, resource-sharing, and full democratic participation.

Collectivity? Resource sharing? What?!

It gets better. The teachers go to great lengths to support their decision (evidently without actually learning anything about the history and failure of communism). What we find is that they back up their absurd lesson with classic Marxism.

In Legotown, the children had constructed a social system of power where a few people made the important decisions and the rest of the participants did the grunt work.

How’s that for a perfect paraphrasing of Marx - the struggle between the Proletariat and the Bourgeoisie. So now we have Soviet style communism wrapped in the cloak of Marxism. Nice.

It gets worse. Just take a look at the “consensus about three core agreements” that these teachers forced on the children:

  • All structures are public structures. Everyone can use all the Lego structures. But only the builder or people who have her or his permission are allowed to change a structure.
  • Lego people can be saved only by a “team” of kids, not by individuals.
  • All structures will be standard sizes.

So, nobody owns a house, and every house built is just like every other. How’s that for incentive?!

These consensus agreements “…returned the Legos to their place of honor in the classroom.”

The case for parochial school has been made.

Specter, pt. II.

Mar 26, 2007 in It's All Right

In an effort to practice what we preach…  The following was sent to Arlen Specter on 3/36/07 at 10:24AM:

Dear Senator Specter:

I am writing to express my complete disappointment in the disgraceful position you have taken with regard to the Bush Administration firing 8 US Attorneys.

Democrats are single-minded in their efforts to discredit the President. Democrats even seem to put this effort ahead of the most important work of securing our country. The Democrat desire for power is driving their actions with regard to Alberto Gonzales; they hope to garner favor with their base for the upcoming elections. This, I understand.

What I don’t understand, is why on earth a Republican would echo Democrat calls to haul members of the administration to Congress? This is at best political grandstanding, and at worst, incompetance. You said yourself on Meet the Press that the Attorneys served at the pleasure of the president. Therefore, why they were fired doesn’t matter. Absent a single shred of evidence that the firings were a cover-up, pursuing this is irresponsible and works against everything that Republicans are fighting for, not to mention our beloved US Constitution.

I urge you to re-think your position and do the right thing: make every effort to stop this political witch-hunt.

Respectfully and Sincerely,
G. Harry Brooks

Get Rid of Specter

Mar 25, 2007 in It's All Right

Arlen Specter is an enemy of all conservatives.  All Republicans and Conservatives should make it their primary mission over the next weeks and months to pressure this liberal into using his head.  There is no worse example of a political figure undermining ther very people he has been elected to serve than the example set by Arlen Specter (R-PA).

On Meet the DePressed Sunday morning, Specter sat there on his pedestal and waxed philosophical about  the need for truth and transparency.   He is demanding that the Attorney General and key Executive staff be placed under oath and be publically questioned about what…a non-issue about nothing.

The intelligence of the man must be brought into question.  How can one say that US Attorney’s serve at the pleasure of the President, and in the next breath say that it is imperative that they get to the truth behind the firings?  Here’s the truth - the reason for the firings DOESN’T MATTER.  (Sorry for yelling, but these people apparently do not seem to understand plain speaking english.)

Use the Contact Form Here to call or e-mail his office and tell him how disgraceful his position is.  Be respectful, but let him know we will not stand for this.  It’s bad enough that we have to go up against non-sensical Democrat positions, now we have Republicans supporting them!?

Give us an Excuse

Mar 23, 2007 in It's All Right

Iran is itching for a fight.  Alright then, just give us an excuse.  The AP is reporting that Iran seized two naval vessels and 15 British sailors yesterday. The British government has demanded their immediate release.

If a fight is what Iran wants, a fight is what they’ll have. But wait - before rushing to the aid of our biggest ally, we must first get passed the roadblocks sure to be erected by Democrats in Congress. The appeasers will undoubtedly make calls for dialogue and negotiations and other ineffectual, meaningless, liberal tripe. The sad part is that they will probably erect said roadblocks for no reason other than to garner favor with the far left as we come into the next political season. This hasn’t happend yet, but if I know liberals….just wait.

We should make it very clear to Iran that these sailors, boats, and equipment will be returned immediately, or we will use the full power of the US Military to aid Britain in securing their return.

Update: 11:04 AM 3/23 I thought for sure it would start from the left. I guess, if you think about it, it has. McCain doesn’t disappoint - why doesn’t he just get it over with and become a Democrat?

CHICAGO U-S Senator and Republican presidential candidate John McCain says there isn’t much America can do about Iran’s decision to take British military personnel into custody this morning.

That’s the spirit, John!

It Makes Perfect Sense

Mar 22, 2007 in It's All Right

The President can fire any US Attorney at any time for any reason, period.  This is not in dispute.  The Democrats have 2 main talking points on this.  First, the firings were politically motivated.  Second, the firings were a cover up; an attempt to halt ongoing inverstigations into Republicans.

On the first point, here is the only response necessary:  So what?

This should settle the issue once and for all.  Like usual, I’ll have to draw this in crayon so that those on the left can understand.  (Speaking very, very slowly…)  The President can fire any US Attorney for any reason at any time.  Get it?  Simple, eh?

On the second point, I would ask for a single piece of evidence.  Anything at all.  Something.  Anything.  Except there is nothing.  There is not a single piece of evidence that a crime was being covered up.  Not one.

So why are Democrats going to subpoena Karl Rove and others?

Because the only Democrat desire is power.  They don’t want to solve any problems.  In fact, a solid argument could be made that over the last 50 years Democrats have actively worked against the US citizenry and undermined the US Constitution.  Want evidence?  How about consistently removing incentive, imposing burdonsome regulation, using confiscatory taxing, punishing success, rewarding failure, enaging in class warfare, inflaming race relations, and undermining our sovereign borders?  That’s just a start…how about indoctrinating American youth with Marxist ideology?  How about creating excuses for child rapists?  How about confiscating and reselling private property for tax revenue?

This is a short list, but the idea comes through.  The Democrats will do anything to tear down institutions that demand personal responsibility.  To this end, they create government roadblocks to success, as shown above.  Why?

Power.

They want power at any cost.

Here we have a clear picture.  By discrediting and tearing down the Bush Administration, even under false pretenses, they hope to gain political favor and thus, improve their power position.

Aren’t you glad that the US Senate is wasting their time (see paragraph 1) while:

- Iran is developing nukes
- 36% of DC residents are functionally illiterate
- North Korea is thumbing their nose at the world and developing nukes
- We have tens of thousands of troops deployed in Irag and Afghanistan
- There is a global effort by radical Islam to kill as many Americans as possible
- We have somewhere between 12 and 20 million illegal aliens in our country
- There’s more but you get the point

Would it be too much to ask for Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein to do their job?  Which, incidentally, does not include management of the Chief Executive.  That’s according to the US Constitution, though it doesn’t seem to matter to power hungrey democrats.

PS: It is noteworthy that the Democrats are also trying to undermine the US Constitution by allowing DC to have 2 Senators and a Congressman.  The US Constitution reserves this right exclusively for states.  At least in this case, even if they are successful in poking a little hole in the Constitution, it shouldn’t have much impact - over a third of DC residents won’t be able to read the ballot.
