To Be Right!

It doesn’t mater what the situation is - it’s Bush’s fault.  If it weren’t so serious it’d be funny.  Tim Russert sat there over the weekend and listened (with a straight face) to Joe Biden blame President Bush for everything from suicide bombers to the VA Tech murders.  Unbelievable.  Biden took it one step beyond - suggesting that Republicans in general are responsible for the breakdown of American moral fabric.  Ha!

To paraphrase a line from the Bible, you reap what you sow. And ladies and gentlemen, we are reaping what we have sown, the seeds of destruction and the seeds of malcontention that we’ve sown. I would argue, since 1994 with the Gingrich revolution, ladies and gentlemen, just take a look at Iraq, Venezuela, Katrina, what’s gone down in Virginia Tech, Darfur, Imus. Take a look. This didn’t happen accidentally, all of these things. Since 1994, from the Gingrich revolution to Karl Rove and President Bush, we have wallowed, wallowed in the politics of polarization.

Does Biden think we’re completely clueless?  Apparently, yes.  This kind of arrogence is beyond anything I have witnessed.  Can you imagine - blaming VA Tech on Republicans?! Only a democrat. Of course - in common fashion, Republicans are sitting under their desks afraid to challenge him on any of it. And Russert…shameful.

I particularly like how Biden says that Republicans are responsible for all of these horrific events and then adds the blurb about polarizing politics. Anyone seen my black tea pot?

Of course, he qualifies it “…by the way, they’re, they’re, they’re not directly responsible for any of those things…” But then goes on to wax poetic about how it really is Republicans fault - they changed the atmosphere and it percolated “through the entire society.” Clear as mud.

Liberals just can’t get it right.  Every problem in the world, every social wrong, every bad situation is somebody’s fault.  It has to be this way because it is the only avenue for victimizing the greatest number of people and victimization is the basis for many, if not all, liberal constructs. 

32 college kids are murdered (the killer is not worthy of including in the count) and the first thing heard on the breaking news is about how the University didn’t protect the kids.  One hysterical buffoonologist after another using their so-called expertise to castigate the University Administration and the University Police for not protecting the kids.  This without the benefit of ANY facts about the case - only bits and pieces of broken-down word of mouth. 

Here’s a novel thought: It’s the killer’s fault! 

There is nobody to blame here except the killer.  The knee-jerk liberal reaction is to blame someone, create as many victims as possible, and institute a government agency to “help” the victims deal with it.  The families of the victims have been punished enough - one would hope that the aforementioned buffoonologists would let them mourn, without holding up the University adminstration or some poor local police chief for blame. 

In short, there is no possibility of protecting the innocent from a homicidal maniac.  All the lockdown procedures in the world can’t stop a madman from killing if that’s what his mind is set to.

And another thing, I don’t give a damn why he did it.  I don’t care how bad his childhood was.  I don’t care if he didn’t have a father figure.  I don’t care if his mother beat the crap out of him regularly.  None of it matters.  The monster that perpetrated this carnage is dead, that much we can be thankful for.  Let’s not get wrapped up in trying to analyze it because there is nothing to analyze.  This is what liberals don’t get; evil, pure and simple, does exist.

Appealing to the emotions of the masses has long been a tactic in the battle between the right and left.  The left is better adapted to this use of pathos, largely because their positions don’t tend to contain much reason or common sense, so emotion is a perfect fallback.

Pick your topic and you’ll find an example brilliantly demonstrated by the left…

Global Warming?  Your children are going to die if we don’t raise taxes and apply more regulation to evil businesses.

Tax Cuts?  How could you give money to to the rich, while increasing the suffering of the poor?

Medicare?  If you don’t let us expand Medicare, the elderly will be forced to eat dog food and go without medication (I didn’t make this one up).

The War on Terror?  Bush lied and now our children are being killed - their lives “wasted” (see Barack Obama campaign for reference).

And on and on and on and on…

This one is a real stand out…  “The terrorists hate us more now because of Bush policies.”  How’s that for a prerequisite thought on which to base your entire foreign policy?  The left is so short sighted.  They really do seem to suffer from mass amnesia (see
He Lied, But… from 3/13/07). How about a refresher? If you hear any liberal talk about how much more the terrorists hate us because of Bush, just read off a couple of these…

1982–1991 - Lebanon: 30 US and other Western hostages kidnapped by Hezbollah. Some were killed, some died in captivity, and some were eventually released. Terry Anderson was held for 2,454 days.

1983 - April 18, Beirut, Lebanon: U.S. embassy car-bomb - 63 dead, including 17 Americans. The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.

1983 - Oct. 23, Beirut, Lebanon: Suicide bombers killed 241 US Marines; A second bomb killed 58 French paratroopers.

1983 - Dec. 12, Kuwait City, Kuwait: Car-bomb explodes at the U.S. embassy killing 5 and injuring 80.

1984 - Sept. 20, Beirut, Lebanon: Car-bomb exploded at the U.S. embassy killing 24.

1984 - Dec. 3, Beirut, Lebanon: Kuwait Airways Flight 221, from Kuwait to Pakistan, hijacked and diverted to Tehran. 2 Americans killed.

1985 - April 12, Madrid, Spain: Bombing at restaurant frequented by U.S. soldiers, killed 18 Spaniards and injured 82.

1985 - June 14, Beirut, Lebanon: TWA Flight 847 from Athens to Rome hijacked by Hezbollah and held for 17 days. A U.S. Navy diver was executed.

1985 - Oct. 7, Mediterranean Sea: gunmen attack Italian cruise ship, Achille Lauro. 1 U.S. tourist killed.

1985 - Dec. 18, Italy and Austria: airports in Rome and Vienna were bombed, killing 20 people (5 Americans)

1986 - April 2, Athens, Greece: TWA flight 840 bombed killing 4 Americans and injuring 9.

1986 - April 5, West Berlin, Germany: Libyans bomb a disco and kill 2; hundreds injured.

1988 - Dec. 21, Lockerbie, Scotland: terrorist bomb blows up a 747 in flight killing all 259 aboard and 11 on the ground. Libya actually admitted to doing this years later.

1993 - Feb. 26, New York City: bomb exploded in basement garage of World Trade Center, killing 6 and injuring at least 1,040 others.

1995 - Nov. 13, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Car-bomb exploded at U.S. military HQ killing 5 servicemen.

1996 - June 25, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia: Car-bomb blows up at the Khobar Towers killing 19 American and injuring hundreds of others. 13 Saudis and a Lebanese were indicted for the bombing.

1998 - Aug. 7, Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: truck bombs exploded almost simultaneously near 2 U.S. embassies, killing 224 (213 in Kenya and 11 in Tanzania) and injuring about 4,500. Bombers were al-qaeda trained.

2000 - Oct. 12, Aden, Yemen: U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole bombed and 17 sailors killed.

2001 - Sept. 11, New York City, Arlington, Va., and Shanksville, Pa.: The September 11 hijackings and murders. About 3000 killed.

Yeah, they hate us more.  Yeah, right!

That only goes back to the 1980’s and only looks at instances where Americans were killed. The Islamic Terrorists have hated us for a long, long time. They will continue to hate us long after President Bush leaves office. This is not difficult to understand. But, through the eyes of emotion, decision making can’t rely on factual history. Such is the predicament of the left.
