I love this from Rachel Marsden:
“Well, it’s finally happened. Once again, socialism has put a silver fork in itself. Standard & Poor’s has downgraded France’s AAA credit rating, giving the country side-eye on claims to have its debt under control. This means the country will now have to pay it all back at an even higher interest rate.
Who are we kidding? No one’s paying back any debts right now. You need money to do that. When was the last time France had any extra cash lying around? It’s like raising the interest rate on the credit card of a smack addict whose pumping his capital into his veins faster than any German, Chinese, or Russian can slip him a tenner.”
Well that about sums it up, doesn’t it?
It begs the question: If socialism has so utterly failed, over and over again, why do politicians pursue it?
My instinct is that it is all about power. Politicians claim that their socialist programs are philanthropic. But if one country after another is going bankrupt because of socialist policy, that cannot be true.
After all, what’s better, a country where self-reliance is encouraged with a strong economy, or a country with socialist entitlements which is bankrupt?
When a politician gets to be the arbiter of success, they have power. My best guess is that it is the power that so entices leftist politicians.
Disgusting.
It is painfully obvious to Conservatives that the source of the left’s power is indeed the manipulation of their constituent’s ignorance. It is very sad to say the least. What is actually gradual socialism or “soft tyranny” is sold as romanticized “social injustice” or “income inequality”.
Politicians pursue is because it is easy. Their arrogance blinds them to the fact that, past and present, this economic model does not work.
