Something that I noticed throughout the speech, was Obama’s use of past tense. Here is an example:

A war to disarm a state became a fight against an insurgency. Terrorism and sectarian warfare threatened to tear Iraq apart. Thousands of Americans gave their lives; tens of thousands have been wounded. Our relations abroad were strained. Our unity at home was tested.

This short paragraph implies that terrorism and sectarian warfare no longer threaten Iraq; that American soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors are no longer in danger; that our relations abroad are all honky-dory now; and that our unity at home is rock solid.

Ha!

This is what Obama does. He says things that are either overt lies, or he creates illusions that are dubious at best.

Obama touted the fact that “The Americans who have served in Iraq completed every mission they were given. ” (Again with the past tense.) But coming from this man – I almost came out of my seat when he said this. Not because it wasn’t true, but because this guy made a habit out of speaking out of both sides of his mouth. Be lambasted the Bush request for war funding on political grounds saying, “I said ‘no’ unequivocally because, at a certain point, we have to say no to George Bush.”

That’s some support of the troops! He went on to vote for war funding, but what message does this send to the fighting men and women? That he is willing to throw them under the bus to score points against a political opponent?

Then there is this little gem: Obama stood firmly against the surge. I mean, FIRMLY. If he had is way, who knows what Iraq would look like today?

Here is a beauty that we have to call your attention to. Obama said:

“In fact, over the last 19 months, nearly a dozen al Qaeda leaders — and hundreds of al Qaeda’s extremist allies — have been killed or captured around the world.”

What, before 19 months ago we had not killed or captured any of Al Qaeda leaders or allies? Are we to believe that only his Greatness, Obama was able to do anything in Afghanistan? This guy is ridiculous. Good thing nobody was watching and if they were, they were watching his freakishly unmoving eyebrows.

Then, Barrack Hussein Obama went on a little self-aggrandizing moment that almost rivaled the “…the rise of the oceans will begin to fall,” moment. Take a look at this quote:

Today, old adversaries are at peace, and emerging democracies are potential partners. New markets for our goods stretch from Asia to the Americas.

What?!

Who are the old adversaries at peace? Who the hell is he talking about? France and England for crying out loud? And where are these new markets? He must be talking about our balanced trade with China, right? What a crock.

Lastly, the coup de grace. He manages to blame Bush AND criticize spending a Trillion dollars over ten years on the war effort. He said:

Unfortunately, over the last decade, we’ve not done what’s necessary to shore up the foundations of our own prosperity. We spent a trillion dollars at war, often financed by borrowing from overseas…This in turn…led to record deficits.

Are you KIDDING ME??? This is laughable on its face. The blaming Bush thing is expected now, because Obama has proven that he is not man enough to own up to any responsibility. We expect that from an infantile boob. But this thing about the $1 Trillion… This is a guy who spent a trillion dollars standing on his head! And he did it with one stroke of a pen! And did he do it to fight against a sworn enemy that was a threat to America and the world? No, he did it in furtherance of his socialist agenda.

Unbelievable, this guy.

Hopefully people were more enthralled by the frozen eyebrows and weren’t paying any attention to this ridiculous speech. Okay, I know the eyebrow thing is childish and stupid…still, have you looked at those things? They just won’t move! Really – have a look for yourself…

Another Obama Ruse – perhaps one that trumps any slight of hand to date. Granted, the following thesis treads deeply into the pool of cynicism, but with the constant barrage of twisted logic and outright lies the Obama administration now deserves nothing short of contemptuous mistrust.

House Bill H.R 3962 will open the door to complete government control over the citizenry. Once passed, there is no limit to what the government will be able to regulate. From the food you eat to the products and services you buy, the government will regulate it. The larger issue of governmental authority will be the sinister backdrop. Beyond health care, the precedent the bill makes is not just dangerous, but fatal to the Republic. With such a grand reward for our Progressive in Chief, the bill must be passed. The anti-abortion provisions are a ruse to pass the bill.

But not in the way you might think.

During October, when the 2000 page bill was being crafted, the notion that the bill provided national subsidies for abortion began surfacing with more and more frequency. This was by design. In response, the predictable voices on the Republican side began crowing about how terrible this would be and how they could never support a bill that included this type of funding.

Enter the Stupak-Pitts amendment – an amendment that specifically prevents the public option from covering abortion costs as part of the regular coverage. Great, right? Wrong. All this did was set off the, again predictable, firestorm of political confrontation. The left wants no such amendment, the right doesn’t want any of it, and the squishy middle sits its collective ass on the fence, waiting on a resolution before they’ll make their decision.

Suddenly, the argument is almost exclusively about whether or not abortion is covered in the bill.

If the left caves in, the progressive Republican Senators (think Snowe, McCain, Graham) may well get behind this bill. If the moderate liberals cave in, the left gets what they want with support of the entire Democrat party – enough to win passage.

This is all conventional wisdom and none of it matters.

The discussion about abortion provisions, or lack thereof is a moot point because there are already plenty of vehicles for the federal government to provide abortion funding. Planned Parenthood alone receives some $300,000,000.00 per year in federal grants and subsidies. Make no mistake, the federal government is already very much involved with funding abortions.

Abortion provisions are a grand distraction, designed to change the discussion and deflect the more important debate; the one about government power, constitutional limits, and the erosion of freedom.

Obama has most likely calculated that the discussion about abortion is the one he wants to have. If the left loses the battle and the Stupak-Pitts amendment remains part of the bill it doesn’t matter because the federal government will just funnel abortion funding through another channel, like Planned Parenthood. If the left wins the battle and gains support from moderate Democrats, the bill will pass anyway, since the Democrats have a majority sufficient to pass the bill without any Republicans.

By keeping the argument about abortion, the real debate never has a chance to surface because the inflammatory abortion chatter is all that can be heard. With the distraction firmly in place, the bill passes, Obama wins and the Republic dies.

Today, August 11, 2009, the President of the United States told a bald faced lie. There is no misunderstanding, no missed context, there is not even a slight question about benefit of the doubt.

There is no doubt – the President lied.

The question that this lie compels is: Why? Why would the president lie? Before that analysis, let’s watch the liar in action. In Reviewing the transcript from Barack Obama’s Health Care Town Hall just several hours ago he was asked this questions:

Mr. President, you’ve been quoted over the years — when you were a senator and perhaps even before then — that you were essentially a supporter of a universal plan. I’m beginning to see that you’re changing that. Do you honestly believe that? Because that is my concern. I’m on Medicare, but I still worry that if we go to a public option, period, that the private companies, the insurance companies, rather than competing — because who can compete with the government; the answer is nobody. So my question is do you still — as yourself, now — support a universal plan? Or are you open to the private industry still being maintained?

Obama’s response (in part – it was so rambling the post would be three pages long if I copied the entire thing – if you want the whole thing, follow the link to the transcript. My emphasis added.)

…A single-payer plan would be a plan like Medicare for all, or the kind of plan that they have in Canada, where basically government is the only person — is the only entity that pays for all health care. Everybody has a government-paid-for plan, even though in, depending on which country, the doctors are still private or the hospitals might still be private. In some countries, the doctors work for the government and the hospitals are owned by the government. But the point is, is that government pays for everything, like Medicare for all. That is a single-payer plan.

I have not said that I was a single-payer supporter because, frankly, we historically have had a employer-based system in this country with private insurers, and for us to transition to a system like that I believe would be too disruptive. So what would end up happening would be, a lot of people who currently have employer-based health care would suddenly find themselves dropped, and they would have to go into an entirely new system that had not been fully set up yet. And I would be concerned about the potential destructiveness of that kind of transition. All right? So I’m not promoting a single-payer plan….

So, clearly the president is not for, and has never been (remember above, “…I have not said that I was a single-payer supporter…”) a supporter of a single payer system. Do the words “supporter” and “proponent” mean the same thing? Apparently, Barack doesn’t think so. Here is the evidence of his lie:

So why would he lie?

There are only a couple of reasons why he would lie and none of them are good. If he is lying because he forgot (he best case scenario) we are to believe that a video (above) that has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on YouTube alone, plus had air time on many of the most popular TV outlets, somehow escaped the attention of Obama’s communications staff. This means that either the President has no convictions at all regarding health care, or can’t remember his articulated position about a topic that effects almost a FIFTH of the entire economy.

Or perhaps he is lying because he knows that he can’t get his ObamaCare passed if he tells the truth? Now, maybe he even sees this as humanitarian. Maybe he believes that he knows what’s best for the citizens so he has to lie to us to save us from ourselves. That would be swell of him.

Or maybe he is lying because the truth would expose a nefarious attempt to seize power? A single payer system – one that Obama vehemently supported just a couple years ago – would increase the size and scope of the government beyond belief. It would also empower the government – literally – to decide whether or not individuals live or die.

This president is a liar. Each reason I can think of to explain his lie is worse than the one before. Let’s hope that the American people can stop this madman before he harms the country any worse than he already has (i.e. take over of GM; porkulus bill; $12 Trillion debt; $4 Trillion budget; Record deficits; weakening dollar).
