If you haven’t heard, here’s what Jimmy Hoffa said yesterday:

“President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. … Let’s take these son-of-a-bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong…”

Wait… to which son of a bitches was Hoffa referring?

First, let’s get the grammar lesson out of the way: If you’re going to stand in front of the presidential podium and throw political bombs, at least use the correct grammar. For the love of God, man…these clowns can’t even get their swears right! For the book, it’s “sons of bitches.” Why Hoffa targets men and insults women is anybody’s guess. Then again, the moron can’t get his grammar basics right, we shouldn’t assume he’d apply logic to the sentiment.

With that taken care of, Let’s get to the two questions at hand. First, to which sons of bitches was Hoffa referring? Well, he was referring to the Tea Party, of course. Hoffa, like Obama and the rest of the democrat party, thinks that low taxes, adherence to the Constitution and smaller government is bad…very bad.

Just think about what Tea Party ideals would do to the country:

- People would keep more of their own money.
- People would have more control over their retirement security
- Dependence on government handouts would fall
- Citizens would be empowered to act through local governments
- States would be free from federal bullying
- Businesses and industry would be left alone to grow and prosper

On the other hand, if the sons of bitches are taken out, we’ll be left with more of what we have now:

- More and more people looking for work and unable to find it
- Record numbers of people needing food stamps to eat
- Mortgage defaults at record highs
- A meaningless Constitution
- Debt levels so massive, not even our children will be able to pay it off – it will span generations
- Destruction of the human spirit as incentive is removed
- A people dependent on an authoritarian government for their survival
- No chance of becoming wealthy by innovative, entrepreneurial activities

Hmmmmm… which one sounds better? Clearly the Tea Party folks would be very bad for America.

On to a second – and more important – question: Can America be saved?

I’m not asking rhetorically, I mean can we really be saved? That is, can our Republic withstand the blitzkrieg from the socialist army? The democrats and the left are walking the country on a death march. This is by design and it is working.

When Obama came into office, he had both houses of Congress on his side. At the time, Rush Limbaugh was being criticized for saying, “I hope he fails.” Most reasonable people knew Obama was a liberal and that he would push liberal policies, but most people believed he would be doing so with genuine compassion and love of country in his heart.

We had to believe this, for the alternative was unthinkable.

The alternative is that Obama hates the country and is promoting policies that will destroy it.

Today, September 7, 2011, the alternative has proven true; the unthinkable has happened. There is no other explanation.

The Porkulus was step one. Push hundreds of billions of dollars into every union, pet project, and dependency program imaginable. This does two things: first, it puts the country under a crushing debt load and second, it propagates dependency amongst the non-machine populace and further entrenches the public union machine.

Step two was Obamacare. This 2700 page behemoth makes the Prokulus look like a grain of sand on the beach. Obamacare combines the crushing debt with dependency in a way that has never been done before. It also effectively eliminates the Constitution, for when the federal government can tell you what to buy, we no longer have a free society.

Step three is regulation. Obama, through his minions in various agencies and departments, has put a stranglehold on businesses of all kinds. From the well known regulations like Frank-Dodd to the lesser known regulations with a foot on the neck of energy exploration, the Obama business environment is poisonous to say the least.

Step four will be rolled out tomorrow night at the big speech. Do we expect Obama to talk about rolling back regulations, cutting taxes for businesses, and controlling debt through real reductions in spending? Nope. Instead, we will be told that we must invest in the future (spend more), stop giving benefits to the rich (raise taxes), and help those who can’t help themselves (increase dependency).

The only – ONLY – way we can be saved is if both houses of Congress are filled with Tea Party-type people and a real conservative is in the Oval Office. Even then, rolling back what has been done make take decades.

Obama has done what he set out to do: destroy the country. There is no other explanation. No reasonable person could conclude anything but his willful, systematic destruction of our Republic.

Can we be saved? Yes. But it will take the Tea Party to do it.

Here is a copy of the letter I just sent to Senator Jim Webb. We need to make it very clear to our Senators, they will not keep their jobs if they continue to back the fraud that is Obamacare. Here is the text of the letter:

Dear Sir,

I am writing to plead with you to do the right thing and vote to repeal Obamacare.

This law is clearly unconstitutional. Thet government can NOT ell me what to buy and when to buy it. You do not have that power.

This law is paid for by FRAUD. Double counting, not counting the doc fix, on and on.

Now I see Austan Goolsbee claiming a litany of tax increases are not tax increases!

I have a high deductible HSA health plan. My wife and I own 2 small businesses in Virginia. The HSA deduction elimination is a huge tax increase on me. Combined with my increased premiums this year – about 30% – I am spending about $3500 MORE this year on health care.

My doctors, pediatrician and my insurance broker are all saying the same thing: Obamacare is causing prices to skyrocket.

This is your chance to do the right thing. I can tell you with certainty, if you stay quiet about this and/or vote to keep this abomination in place, I will work tirelessly – I will do everything in my power – to see that as many people as possible vote you out of office in 2012.

Respectfully,

Editors Update – 2/3/2011: Senator Webb sent out an email today claiming he’s all for businesses because he is voting to repeal the 1099 provision of Obamacare (what the hell was it doing in there in the first place?). I am offended by this. It’s like burning down somebody’s house along with all their possessions, and then giving them a an empty picture frame and saying, “…here, this will make it all better.” Ridiculous. Here is the letter I sent to Webb today (I’m sure I’m on a list of some sort, some where):

Dear Sir,

I just got an email from you, which read in part:

“Yesterday, I voted to pass an amendment to eliminate a 1099 tax form reporting requirement that was enacted under the federal health care reform law last year. I was an original cosponsor of the amendment, which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced it “strongly supports.”

I have now voted four times to eliminate this unfair burden. Yesterday’s vote demonstrates that Congress is willing to resolve concerns about the health care reform law in a bipartisan way. ”

So let me get this straight: You vote Yes on an unconstitutional bill, which is funded by fraud, without reading it. And now you are voting to eliminate part of that bill – not even the unconstitutional part, or the parts that fund it by double counting and gimmickry?

This is shameful.

I am offended by this. This insignificant action in the face of the damage YOU did by voting for Obamacare in the first place is a laughing stock. You cause a massive problem and then address one tiny little piece of the destruction and think we’ll fall for it?

Think again. I’ll look forward to voting against you in the next election, and look forward to trying to convince as many people as possible to do that same.

Regretfully,

A Florida court ruled that Obamacare is unconstitutional. Good, it is. Let’s think this through for a minute – even with our paltry non-ivy league brains… Here’s how Obamacare works:

Tell everybody – you must buy insurance. Even if you don’t want it, or need it, you must buy it. If you don’t you pay a penalty.

But if people cannot be compelled to buy a service and subsequently can’t be penalized for not doing so, where does the money come from? It doesn’t. Without the personal mandate, Obamacare becomes a financial disaster, to the extent that it is not already.

Forcing people to buy insurance – the individual mandate – is the central provision of the entire bill. First, young, healthy people will be paying into the insurance pool, but using very few services. If they don’t, they will pay the penalty. In addition, Obamacare robs hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars from various other programs, while maintaining the obligations from the programs it robs from. This is where the money comes from to fund the bill.

So if the money from all those young people who pay, but don’t use, plus the penalties doesn’t come in, I guess Obamacare will have some financial problems, right?

It already does. Let’s put it all together. Here are just a couple of the lies Obama told you – that’s right, lies. If it is a mistake, I’d call it that. But it is not – it’s a lie. When someone knows something to be false, and presents it as fact anyway, it is a lie. Yes, Obama is a liar. Yes, yes, I know…I’m a racist, blah, blah, blah. Phooey on you liberals. He’s a liar, pure and simple. These are facts about Obamacare:

10 year cost estimate is based on 10 years of taxes, Medicare cuts, and penalties, but only 6 years of service. Can anyone say “red flag?”

Takes $50 Billion in Social Security revenues and applies that money to Obamacare. Um, what about Social Security?

Takes $72 Billion from the CLASS Act premiums (long term care subsidy) and counts them as Obamacare funding. Um, what about the CLASS Act?

Takes $500 Billion from Medicare directly. But not as part of a fix, it just guts the program. What do you think happens to Medicare providers and Medicare recipients? Hmm? Hmmm?

Ignores the $370 Billion bill to make Medicare providers whole – they are short changed every year, so the government appropriates money to pay them. This is not counted at all in Obamacare.

We know Obama knew all these things, because Paul Ryan told him on national TV. Yet, even after knowing all those things, Obama still went out and lied about the cost of Obamacare. AFTER knowing these things, Obama said that his health care plan was, “the most significant effort to reduce deficits since the Balanced Budget Act.” Funny – that exact quote can be attributed to about 10 different democrats between March 15 and March 20 of 2010. Think it was a talking point?

And here’s the real kicker. How can any reasonable person – even a not-so-reasonable person – claim that forcing a person to buy something is constitutional? Really? Since when? You don’t need a law degree or a fancy education to understand that the government cannot tell you what to buy. Yet that’s exactly what Obamacare does.

Fortunately for Americans, Judge Roger Vinson ruled that the government cannot force people to buy something. Since the entire Obamacare law is based off of doing just that, the judge declared that the entire bill is void. This will surely go to the Supreme Court. There is great reason to be optimistic, though the fight is far from over. Obama is still running around feigning righteous indignation and claiming that the bill is perfectly constitutional and will reduce the deficit. What a liar.

(Funny how the left’s mantra was “Bush lied” with zero evidence of that. Here we have clear evidence that Obama lied. Though the main stream media doesn’t say so, everybody knows it.)

The 2012 election began with the Barack Hussein Obama campaign launch in Tucson, Arizona a few weeks ago. Then, in the second campaign stop in as many weeks, BHO took to the stump at State of The Union. This second stop was particularly effective. And why not? Billed as “The State of the Union Story Time and Imagination Club” it was sure to be a real crowd-pleaser. The theme of the new campaign seems to be “investing in the future.” Of course, it makes perfect sense…just need to spend a little more money. I mean, all we need to do is get enough tax money to BHO and he’ll make sure to change the weather.

But I digress. The reason the BHO campaign kickoff is important is because we need to get the lineup ready on the conservative side. We’ve got a bunch of guys on the Injured Reserve list and a whole s**t-load of third stringers, so here is a breakdown of who the players are and what we think is going to happen to them. Counting down from “No Chance,” through “Useful,” to “Dream Team Picks, or sort of” lets go through them all…

Jeb Bush – Please, please, please don’t let ole Jeb run. We don’t even need to get into a policy discussion here: A Bush can’t win, so don’t screw it up for the rest of us. The Bush presidencies have not been terrible. Bush 41 did an okay job. He had the tax increase deal (read my lips), but beyond that, he was kind of run-of-the-mill. Bush 43, well, we all know about him…he had 9/11. Everybody gets that. Bush did an alright job, too. But with an expansion of prescription drug benefits, and declaring that “I have to sacrifice free market principles to save the free market,” he got a few demerits from the conservative movement. Fast forward to Jeb. Well, who cares? With the enormous baggage from brother and Dad, Jeb has no chance regardless of his policy stances.

Michael Bloomberg – Uggghh. Put this guy into a lineup with Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Arlen Specter (Arlen just for good measure) and guess what? You won’t be able to tell them apart. Bloomberg is a classic lefty and deserves nothing but scorn from the conservative movement. Bloomberg, in addition to supporting a cadre of liberals in all kinds of political races, also like the idea of the government regulating things like what you eat, whether or not you smoke and the like. He thinks abortion is just fine and dandy and to put his exclamation point on his unworthiness, he came down on the wrong side of the ground-zero mosque.

Chris Christie - I wanted so bad to like Christie. Actually, I don’t dislike him. But to repeat what he often says about himself, he’s not ready to be president. No question that Christie understands the damage that public sector unions are doing to the country. He also seems to have a real grasp on market economics. What Christie lacks, is judgment. His nomination of Sohail Mohammed to the NJ Superior Court bench shows a stunning lack of judgment. What, with Mohammed having ties to terrorism and all.

Haley Barbour – as the governor or Mississippi, Barbour certainly has the bona fides to run. We hope he doesn’t. He’s not terrible, but Barbour is just one of dozens of old school Washington pols who lacks what we need today. There are news stories all over the web describing him as a “power broker.” Well, we don’t need a power broker; we need a conservative Frank Dux to kick the crap out of all things progressive. Plus, let’s face it…Barbour kinda reminds me of Sheriff Buford T. Justice as portrayed by Jackie Gleason.

John Thune – The Senator from South Dakota. Operative word: Senator. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Wait, yes there is…Thune is a Tarpy. Sorry – for those not in the know:

Tarpy: /tar-pee/ – 1. noun – one who publicly supported the troubled asset relief program (TARP) 2. adjective – to display elitism and snobbery in thinking that people are too stupid to operate without benefit of the federal government. Usage: The tarpy senator from South Dakota said the Earth would explode if the government didn’t spend $800 Billion.

Thune was one of the chickens crowing about the sky falling and supported TARP. So one might say, “…a lot of conservatives supported TARP.” That may well be true, and if so, it is a BIG demerit. This just tells me the Thune’s instinct is that the government should, or must, be used to manage the economy. He does have a few good things going for him, like personality and energy, but not enough. We need the real deal for 2012.

Newt Gingrich – Here’s the first of the people who should run, but only in the primary, since he can’t win. Most people who will be voting remember Gingrich from the 1995 conservative uprising. He was the architect of the Contract With America and is definitely a thinker. Some great ideas are coming out of Newt’s head. Here’s the problem: He can’t win. Newt was so demonized in the 90′s that I don’t think he’ll ever recover. Personal issues, some (unfounded) ethical issues, and voila, we have a loser. That being said, Gingrich can do a great job at shaping a primary debate. He will pull the conversation into practical, results-oriented conservatism, which is what we need. We’re looking for a primary run, but only to serve the stated purpose – not to win.

Mike Huckabee – He can’t win because of his goofy-ass name. There, I said it. Call me petty, call me a bully, whatever. Truth is, marketing counts. The country won’t vote for “Huckabee.” But…we did vote for a guy named Barack Hussein Obama, so maybe I’m off the reservation on this. Hmmm…..better re-think. Okay – maybe he could win, but the guy is just a little too populist for me. We need someone who passes the conservative purity test just a bit better. Like Gingrich, he’ll make a fine addition to the primary, but nothing more. He might be a bit dangerous because he could make a surprise primary win and then we’d be stuck with him – and then the name thing… Oh, never mind. Huckabee is not the guy.

Tim Pawlenty – Oh puleeeze. I’m hearing his name more and more and I don’t like it. He should just stay home and be a good Republican. My problem with Pawlenty is that he’s too quick to use the gubment. He says he would have done the Stimulus in a different way. He mentions using money for “infrastructure projects.” What? That’s a bunch of Keynesian bulls**t. So, out of one side of his mouth he speaks against the chicken little Stimulus crowd, but then suggests doing the same freakin’ thing. I’ve had enough of these politicians, haven’t you?

Mitt Romney – Polished. Square. Good looking. Speaks well. Business experience. He’s like a caricature of a presidential candidate. And he also socialized medicine in MA in the name of political expediency. He should have abolished that piece of crap before it grew and then campaigned on how he learned his lesson; then I’d be a Romney supporter. Oh yeah, I could care less what religion he is. Sheesh. Still – too cookie cutter. Too middle of the road. Too polished. Stay out of the race, Mr. Romney.

Bobby Jindal – I like this guy. Especially, I like how he was sticking it to Obama during the Gulf oil spill. Obama is out there claiming to be doing a great job and Jindal is out there saying, “WTF?” Funny. This guy has some fire in the belly and some pretty solid conservative views. He’s a little lanky and sheepish looking, which could be a problem (Where’s Ronaldus Maximus?!). Jindal coul,d be a nice VP choice though I am secretly holding out for Sarah Palin in that role. Did I just say that out loud?

Mitch Daniels – Squich, squich, squich. Oops, sorry…I seem to have stepped in an ankle deep puddle. Squish, squish, squish. Does he have the personality? I doubt it – I’m looking for a firebrand conservative. Does he have the policy ideas? I doubt it – I want someone not afraid to call for the dissolution of the Department of Education and the privatization of Social Security. Is he a darling of the Main Stream Media? Yep. I wonder why??

Paul Ryan – I like Paul Ryan. When he showed up at the Health Care Summit and tore Barack a new a**hole on national TV, it was priceless. For 7 minutes, Ryan deconstructed Obamacare and exposed it as the fraud that it is. Ryan is not so charismatic, but for the ass-whooping he gave little Barry, he didn’t need charisma. He had facts. Cold, hard facts presented in an easy to understand way. This guy is good. The big problems he has is that 1) most don’t think he has the spunk to go up against the Democrat attack machine and 2) he says he doesn’t want to. I wish he would run, but I don’t think he will.

Sarah Palin – Uggghhhh, this gives me heartburn. There is something… je ne sais quoi. I am scared to death for Palin at the top of the ticket. I’m not sure why. Maybe the Main Stream Media has pierced my bulls**t armor and has me thinking that she’s just too divisive. Maybe it’s because she had a reality show. Maybe it’s because she’s not as glib and witty as I might like. All of those things…. BUT. She is the kind of conservative I want. Not afraid to say what she thinks. Has the right positions on freedom, individual liberty, State rights, life, the war on terror. She has so much. I’m not yet willing to come right out for Sarah, but damned if I’m not close. I mean…did you see her shoot that caribou?! Lady goes on national TV and shoots a f-ing caribou! On that alone, she’s at the top of the list. Still holding off on an endorsement.

Kinda leaves you wanting, eh? Let’s see how this shakes out… I’d be remiss if I didn’t address the left side too. I suppose it deserves at least a mention. Obama will be the guy, unless we find out he isn’t qualified to run (that’d be some story!). That aside, he’ll be the guy. The nice part about that is now Obama has a record. I, for one, plan on using Obamacare as a rhetorical bludgeon at every turn. And Porkulus too. And all of the foreign policy blunders. And the 9% unemployment. The thing is, it wouldn’t surprise me if Obama gets a challenge from the left/right/middle of the Democrat party. When the party folks realize how weak he is, we may see a Hilary surprise. Nobody else could do it. But maybe Hilary is in for the long con – gunning for 2016. We won’t know for a few months. But it wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

The blogoshere is boiling over with fantastic commentary and information about government, politics and liberty. Here are a couple of items that are must read quick hits…

Over at Emerging Corruption there is a fantastic piece by James Simpson. In this interview with Allen West, you’ll get a glimpse into the mind of one of the most potent speakers coming out of the conservative movement. Allen West is the real deal. Here is another view of Allen West – this video is 6 minutes you can’t miss:

We all know that organized labor is a big problem. Not so much the industrial unions as the public employee unions. The Conservative Hideout 2.0 has a very good piece on the apparent connection between anti-semitism and organized labor.

Here is a fitting tribute to 9/11 – this was posted up on DRScoundrels – a site I have come to like very much. This is by Brett Maynard and is very well done:

It’s been nine years since it happened
but my memories of that day are still clear
As I recall the smoke and the ashes
I fill with rage and I shed a tear
I remember every single detail
of the events that took place that day
I lost nearly 3,000 brothers and sisters
and it still hurts more than I can say
I was promised that I’d gain resolve
but even now, I wait for it still
there is no closure to help me forget
and I vow that I never will
you may call me intolerant or bigot
and yes, that is your right
but I know that I am not alone
there are plenty still willing to fight
We will never back down
We’ll face fear but we won’t cower
our hearts were broken, not our spirit
and faith in God gives us power
Some of our bravest were lost
our firefighters and police
to those that are responsible,
may you never know any peace
Even now my fists are clenching
while at the same time I grieve
unless they conquer all of us
we will grant them no reprieve
they say the wounds should be healed
that we need to just let go
to those that feel that way
Let me tell you flat out “NO!!”
Vengeance is Mine saith the Lord
perhaps I sin by wanting revenge
so I ask you all to pray for me
until my fellow Americans are avenged

LEST WE FORGET 9-11-01

My friend LD Jackson posted this provocative piece about Sarah Palin. It is a great read and the comments tell a very interesting story about how Palin is perceived by in-the-trenches conservatives. Jackson continues with a follow up piece that is also noteworthy. I’m with him on most of this – I don’t think Palin is the right woman for a 2012 presidential run. I do think she has a place though – perhaps in the RNC.

The always insightful Tabitha Hale also has a piece about Sarah Palin, but from a different angle. It’s no secret that Palin gets the left all wound up. I don’t recall a demonization of a person like this since Newt Gingrich was force feeding dog food on the elderly back in 1995. Palin Rattles Feminists is a good read for any conservative, and especially for conservative women.

Let’s not forget about the Arizona law – Eric Holder, US Clown General is still filing lawsuits and trying to bully Arizona. Now Mexico jumps into the fray. Makes me wonder – do these people think they are actually helping relations? This just turns me against Mexico. Oh well…

Oh Health Care! This Obamacare disaster is the tyrannical gift that keeps on giving. First, watch Obama talk about how it will reduce costs to Americans and reduce the deficit – see 1:38 – 2:20 for his specific claims on cost reduction:

But what actually happened? Well, first there is the lie that Obama was telling all along, which Paul Ryan so artfully called him on. And now, after its passage, we find out that costs are actually going to skyrocket and the deficits are expanding as far as the eye can see. What is Obama’s reaction? He’s going to try and strong arm health insurance companies into keeping prices from going up, even in the face of increased costs. Mark my words: Obama will use this to try and overtly take over the entire health insurance industry He’ll say, “See, they can’t be trusted!” and make a move on them. You heard it here first.

Finally, we have the 9/12 rally this weekend. Everybody who cares about freedom and liberty should get downtown for this historic event. Don’t miss it!

I have had recent conversations with a few strong conservatives regarding the real catalyst behind the Tea Party movement. I contend that the real fire was ignited when health care legislation was being pushed through Congress last Summer. But I have been reminded that the Porkulus bill was probably what set off the movement. The April 15th 2009 Tea Party was really what kicked everything off and that was purely driven by debt and out of control government. I probably stand corrected.

Still, Obamacare is like pour gasoline on the fire. Every person in the country should listen to the following six minutes of video, then listen again, and again. This is what was forced upon us. And the recent news is that the costs savings were a big lie too. Watch this…

The good people of Missouri gave an enthusiastic repudiation of Barack Obama on Tuesday, by overwhelmingly passing Prop C. The President should understand that this is not just about health care, but also about personal freedom and State rights too.

Proposition C found its way on to the Missouri ballot on Tuesday. Prop C says a lot of very interesting things, all of which the Obama administration would be wise to understand. The text of the law reads, in part:

No law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in any health care system.

The operative words here are “compel” and “participate.” The Constitution was written specifically to prevent the government from compelling and citizen to participate in anything. Rather, it provides for what the Federal government is allowed to do. Among those enumerated powers, the power to compel an individual to buy something – anything – does not exist.

The text that appeared on the ballot was refreshing to see. It read, in part:

Deny the government authority to penalize citizens for refusing to purchase private health insurance or infringe upon the right to offer or accept direct payment for lawful healthcare services?

What is striking here is that this language is necessary in the first place. What a crisis we’re in when a State must proclaim that the government does not have the authority to penalize a citizen for NOT participating in commerce of one kind or another?

The measure passed by a 3 to 1 margin. 3 to 1!

This should (though I doubt it will) be a clear message to the Obama administration and to the vocal minority of leftists prowling the country: We don’t want what you’re peddling. What the leftists and Obama himself don’t seem to understand is that the Tea Party movement, the conservative movement and an increasing number of unaffiliated Americans are not interested in becoming socialists.

It isn’t about race. It isn’t about Obama himself. It isn’t about party politics.

It IS about people wanting to be left alone to pursue their lives, unencumbered by an overbearing government. When the government can tell you what to buy, when to buy it and how much to pay for it, it has indeed become overbearing (to say the least!).

It is not clear if Obama understands this. If he does, it is not clear whether or not he cares. What is clear is that ObamaCare has poked a finger into the eye of the American spirit, and he would do well to back away carefully and let us set about the work of repealing this power-grab. If the Missouri vote is any indication of the 2010 national election, the American spirit is going to force Obama’s retreat, render him useless for two years, and then we’ll be free to repair the damage he has caused to the Republic.

This is re-printed with permission…a fantastic piece…Thanks, Bobby for your passion and patriotism!

Written by: Robert Johns, concerned US Citizen

It is a sad state of affairs when illness could strike any one of us and bankrupt our families even with health insurance. One thing both sides of the aisle agree upon is we need health care reform. Our dollar is depreciating while health care costs are rising. The number of available doctors is shrinking in relation to our country’s growing health care needs. Every year we pay health insurance companies more money… and they do less. We pay for plans that cover what we don’t need while lacking many benefits we do need. A business could go claim free for an entire year and rates still go up. We have all seen and or heard of health insurance companies trying to find ways out of their contractual obligations. Patients often purchase medical equipment through insurance companies at a far greater cost than what can be found on the free market. They don’t seem to make too much sense with the things they do and could use an overhaul.

With health care, identifying the problems is an easier task than coming up with the solutions. Each passing day, our confidence in Congress’s ability to fix these major flaws in our system becomes more and more questionable. Many progressives in the media are quick to point out how the free market system is failing when it comes to health care without factoring in how government regulations put a stranglehold on options to the public. Why on earth would our state and federal government limit our ability to purchase from companies all across this nation? This would increase competition giving us more choices and forcing prices down. With that being said, businesses in our country are already taxed higher than almost any nation on the planet. As much as we would like to believe the number is greater, an Associated Press report shows health insurance companies operate on average with a less than 3% profit margin. An industry that makes up 1/6th of our country’s economic being… only sees a 3% profit! If we allow a lower quality and cheaper government option, it will diminish any chance of the nation’s insurance companies being viable businesses.

A government plan will slowly kill private insurance. Companies throughout the nation have been switching to cheaper and lower quality plans for years to save money. As soon as the government health care option comes about, those companies will gradually move that direction. Private carriers will not be able to compete with a bare bones system like the government option and will see no reason to continue in the red. What we will be operating under is an equivalent of the Medicare system. The Medicare system is so inefficiently run that it is almost completely bankrupt. The American Medical Association’s 2008 National Health Insurer Report Card shows Medicare has more denied claims than any private insurance company. An ABC News health report tells us that every year, more and more doctors stop taking Medicare because they don’t want to provide the same service for 50% less money and deal with slow reimbursement turn-a-round and three times the paperwork. Research at the H.S. Dent foundation brings to light that soon, the largest demographic in the country, the baby boomers, will be overwhelming Medicare. The level of inefficiency will rise and the system’s funding will be completely drained. With the funds depleted, doctors fear the reimbursement for their services will be reduced even further. Considering there will already be a shortage of doctors serving this nation’s increasing medical needs, it doesn’t make sense for them to serve a failing program.

This brings us to the doctors. Our MD’s are being crucified under our current system with the outrageous costs that have nothing to do with taking care of people. Doctors are being forced to waste time and money covering their backsides by running every single possible test so they can tell you what “the test” said instead of just giving you their professional opinion. Why do they do this? We live in a society where attorneys prey on emotions of the unfortunate. Even if these attorneys know a lawsuit is unwinnable, they still move forward, racking up billable hours while continuing to clog up our court system. Our doctors pay out astronomical insurance premiums just so they have protection when they inevitably go to court and have “the tests” on trial. Can you believe this? These doctors go through four years of pre med, four years of medical school, two years interning and two years of residency just so we can rest everything on “the test”… which in all likelihood someone without all that education could perform. We can lower our costs and improve the quality with tort reform. Our doctors should not need to focus on protecting themselves when we walk into their office. Running fifty million tests to get the answers to questions the doctors already know is wasteful. Our tax dollars being wasted in the courts on these frivolous lawsuits is insane. The suggestion is not to eliminate testing or leave folks with botched procedures high and dry. We need to look closely at the wasted time and money these doctors are dealing with in our legal system. Sadly, most politicians know this and the evidence is out there, but yet not one word of tort reform in this proposed plan. For those with doubt, talking to your family physician is a good start for information.

Our nation is facing a potential economic catastrophe. The government is borrowing money from foreign nations at an alarming rate, and paying it back by confiscatory taxes and by printing more money, thus further devaluing the currency. A government system will cause taxes to skyrocket. This comes at a time when unemployment is at its highest in decades and the dollar becomes weaker every day. There are concerns oil will stop being traded on the world market with the American dollar as the standard currency. This alone would cause the price of a barrel of oil to rise dramatically. A Cap & Trade tax is coming down the line that is expected to increase our energy costs. CNN and other news agencies are talking about a commercial real estate bubble heading our way. Our nation is fighting “a war of necessity” and journalists on the ground are saying this has a far greater potential to cross borders and last for years. According to the US Debt Clock, our national debt is over $11 trillion with over $105 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Everything our government spends must get paid back by us through our taxes. The government doesn’t make money…we do. When you consider our population is over 307 million and of that, less than half pay income tax, it is a frightening proposition, indeed. The current pattern is unsustainable… and the government solution seems to be is to pile more debt on top of this?

It is said that this will not cover folks that are here illegally. The interesting thing is, immigration reform is on this administration’s agenda and nothing has been discussed. Why on Earth would we pass this with such a huge question mark on how many people could potentially be added to this equation?

Bottom line, our constitution was put in place to protect us from government. Accepting this plan would surrender you and your family’s lives to them. You will be completely at the government’s mercy as they will be making your health care decisions. They are going to fine people for not purchasing something. It is unconstitutional for the government to compel citizens to purchase a product or service! Doing so will be at the cost of our personal liberty.

We all want better healthcare at a lower cost. We don’t want our family to lose everything if we get sick. We don’t want to be told we can’t afford to live. Though these problems exist, what is in this proposal is not going to fix anything and it will come at a cost greater than this nation can bear. We need to implement careful and smart steps to reach our goal of affordable quality health care for our nation. The select few in congress that threw this 1,990 page document filled with legal jargon together behind closed doors with zero transparency are not serving this country. This is not something that should be forced down our collective throat. Citizens need to make sure their representatives read all 1,990 pages of the bill. This is something that should be watched closely and we need to take the time to write letters to our politicians. The clock is ticking!!! This is the time for Americans to let Washington know what we want, what we don’t want and what we won’t tolerate. We are the ones that hired them to serve our needs. They must understand our demands and expectations.

President Obama lies. I am comfortable saying so because he does it all the time – many of his deceitful comments are chronicled in these pages. At the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Town Hall meeting on August 11, 2009, the President said:

I don’t have to explain to you that nearly 46 million Americans don’t have health insurance coverage today.

This is a flat out lie. It was not mis-spoken or a rounding error. It was a lie. That number – 46 Million – is taken from a 2006 Census Bureau report that details who has health insurance in America. (See page 29, table 6.) The fact is that 8.7 million of them make more than $75K. 8.3 Million of them make more than $50K. Get this – 9.5 million of them are NOT citizens!

Here is a hilarious representation of the TRUTH… (hat tip to Iconic Freedom and to @midlifechick)

Who is REALLY uninsured in America?

Compare this cartoon closely with the data in the Census Report. It is a sad day in America when regarding one of the most important topics of our time, a cartoonist tells the truth and the President of the United States is found to be a liar.

Even the liberals hate ObamaCare, or at least Democrats. It looks like ObamaCare got a little bump in the polls after last week’s theatrics, but still 52% of the country thinks it’s a bad idea – that covers all the “independent’s” who voted for Obama.

Any real scrutiny of this constitutional abomination reveals how bad ObamaCare really is. The National Review Online has a great piece by Stephen Spruiell, which lays out the case against ObamaCare with one twist – the case is made by a team from NPR. Well, well, well…even the left doesn’t like it. The headline of the piece is priceless: Welcome to the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

Funny thing is…usually the left doesn’t like it because it doesn’t go far enough, vis a vis the public option, funding abortions, etc. But in this case, it is on actual humanitarian grounds – it provides poor coverage.
